President Donald Trump said Thursday the federal government is working with local authorities to investigate the mass shooting in South Florida and that he’ll visit the area in the wake of the incident.

Addressing the nation from the White House, Trump told victims’ families “we are here for you,” and thanked law enforcement for their role. The shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland left 17 people dead and more than a dozen injured.

Trump said he was committed to addressing mental health issues but made no mention of gun-control measures.
