Key Words: Sanders statement hints at Trump openness to bulking up background checks

President Trump has been criticized for failing to mention guns in his spoken and tweeted comments since the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Broward County, Fla., but a Monday statement from his chief spokeswoman raised hopes that he’s perhaps not averse to at least one of the prescribed legal and regulatory changes prescribed by gun-control advocates:

‘While discussions are ongoing and revisions are being considered, the president is supportive of efforts to improve the federal background check system.’

Sarah Huckabee Sanders
