Sen. Tammy Duckworth brought her baby daughter to work — this is how much money that could save you

For Tammy Duckworth, the Democratic Senator from Illinois, part of preparing for work on Thursday was picking an outfit for her newborn — a onesie with ducklings and an aqua-blue jacket. Her daughter, Maile Pearl Bowlsbey, joined her on the Senate floor for a potential vote.

It’s a big day not just for her and her daughter, but potentially moms all over the country. Previously, senators were not allowed to bring their children onto the Senate floor.

But Duckworth, who became the first senator to give birth while in office last week, inspired a new Senate rule that allows new parents to bring their children into the office until their first birthday.
