Key Words: Jim Chanos slams Elon Musk… again

Elon Musk and Tesla TSLA, +1.14% have plenty of die-hard supporters. Famed short-seller Jim Chanos is clearly not one of them.

‘I think Elon Musk has crossed the Rubicon in terms of making statements to investors that he might rue later.’

Chanos, who overseas about $2 billion as founder of Kynikos Associates, has been short Tesla for four years and says it’s been an OK position relative to the broader market. However, he fully plans to profit as things worsen at the company.

Musk “may be misleading investors,” Chanos told CNBC on Thursday. “He said the Roadster will be available in 2020 and Semi [truck] will be entering production next year.
