Futures Movers: Oil edges lower ahead of inventory data

Oil futures edged lower Thursday, as traders awaited weekly U.S. inventory data as well as further clues to the intentions of major oil producers on a potential easing of output curbs.

West Texas Intermediate crude for July delivery CLN8, -1.10% on the New York Mercantile Exchange fell 53 cents, or 0.8%, to $67.68 a barrel. That left the U.S. benchmark on track to book a 1.3% fall for May, based on price action for the most-active contract.

Brent crude LCON8, +0.26% on the ICE Europe exchange was off 21 cents, or 0.3%, at $77.29 a barrel.
