Currencies: Dollar slumps as U.S. trade policies rattle investors

The dollar moved sharply lower against other major currencies on Monday, as investors digested the latest developments in U.S. trade talks that indicated escalated trade tensions could be on the way.

The euro was among biggest winners in Monday’s trade as the political turmoil in Italy settled down.

What are currencies doing?

The ICE U.S. Dollar Index DXY, -0.45% lost 0.5% to 93.759, paring back after a slight gain logged on Friday.

The WSJ Dollar Index BUXX, -0.36% , which measures the U.S. currency against a broader basket of rivals, fell 0.4% to 86.94.
