Studies show suicides increase in the months after a celebrity takes their own life

When celebrities take their own life, it results in huge media interest around the world, but it can also be triggering for some people who are at risk of suicide themselves.

Fashion designer Kate Spade, 55, was found dead in her New York apartment on Tuesday after an apparent suicide. And on Friday, CNN announced that Anthony Bourdain, the Emmy-winning host of that cable channel’s show, “Parts Unknown,” died aged 61, from an apparent suicide. “His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller,” the network said in a statement.
