The Wall Street Journal: Icahn wins majority of seats on SandRidge Energy board

Carl Icahn is poised to win a majority of seats on SandRidge Energy Inc.’s board, a person familiar with the matter said.

According to a preliminary tally from SandRidge’s SD, +7.45% annual shareholder meeting, the activist investor is set to win at least four board seats, the person said. The Oklahoma City company is expected to hold on to two seats, while the fate of the seventh is too close to call, this person added.

Icahn, who has criticized the oil-and-gas company’s deal making and executive pay, had aimed to replace the entire board with his own nominees. Icahn is SandRidge’s largest investor with a roughly 13.5% stake.
