The Wall Street Journal: Top trade adviser Everett Eissenstat is leaving Trump administration

Everett Eissenstat, a key trade adviser, is leaving the Trump administration, vacating a post on President Donald Trump’s economic team at a time when Trump is warning about expanding tariffs on imports.

Eissenstat, who has worked with both the National Economic Council and the National Security Council, is leaving the White House for a possible future role in the private sector, officials said.

Eissenstat served as an important voice in the room when Trump’s economic officials were debating policy decisions ranging from national security to the “America first” trade policy that has made use of tariffs in an effort to win concessions from China, Canada, Mexico and the European Union.
