President Donald Trump on Thursday announced the resignation of Scott Pruitt, the controversial head of the Environmental Protection Agency.


Pruitt has been engulfed in a number of controversies while leading the agency, from accepting below-market rent from a lobbyist to employing a so-called “secret” calendar to hide contacts with industry representatives.

Trump has stood behind Pruitt up until Thursday, as the latest controversies including trying to get his wife a $200,000-per-year job and having assistants pay for travel expenses.
