Earnings Outlook: Ford earnings: Sedan ‘killing’ move will be put under the microscope

Ford Motor Co. may have announced the death of its sedan lineup, but it has kept the details of the transformation under wraps.

Ford F, -0.90% is scheduled to report second-quarter earnings after the bell on Wednesday, and investors are expected to zero in on the mechanics of the move.

The auto maker surprised many on Wall Street by announcing in April it would stop making sedans such as the Fiesta and the Taurus for its North American markets. It promised to keep the iconic Ford Mustang and a future Focus Active crossover.

The move was part of a turnaround bid that also included plans to reduce capital spending and fast-forward some financial targets to 2020.
