FDA links salmonella fears to common whey supplier, warns more recalls likely

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday said it suspects a spate of recent food recalls over salmonella fears is linked to a common supplier of whey, and warned that more products may be recalled in the coming days.

“We believe these products may contain a common whey ingredient supplied by Associated Milk Producers Inc., that may have been contaminated with salmonella,” the agency said in a statement.

The FDA said it was working with Mondelez International Inc. MDLZ, -0.38% , Pepperidge Farm Inc. — which is owned by Campbell Soup Co. CPB, -0.40% — and Flowers Foods Inc.
