The Margin: A massive wildfire in Northern California grew by 35% overnight

A fire in Northern California was intensifying over the weekend as firefighters battled the blaze that has wreaked havoc on Redding, Calif., and threatens to engulf surrounding cities, according to reports.

The wildfire grew by about 35% overnight, spreading out to a roughly 130-square-mile area, encroaching on southwest cities of Ono, Igo and Gas Point, according to a report from the Associated Press,

“We’re not getting a break with the weather,” Chris Anthony, a spokesman for Cal Fire, the state agency responsible for fighting wildfires, told AP.

“It just continues to be really hot, really dry and we continue to get those winds…This fire’s getting so big and there are so many different parts to it.
