The Moneyist: This man must choose between his ailing mother and a job in another state

Dear Moneyist,

I had lived in a small town in West Virginia until I was 21, then I moved to South Carolina and have lived there for 30-plus years. I’m married with two teenagers. We visited my mother around 2013 and my brother was there also. We both came to the conclusion that mom was not looking well and dad had passed years ago from an accident.

It was decided my family and I would move in with mom to help take care of her. Physically, she does fairly well but mentally she is losing her memory badly. Living with her and her quirks and fits of memory loss is difficult and causing me and my wife anxiety.
