Market Snapshot: Dow falls 600 points and wipes out 2018 gains; Nasdaq enters correction territory

U.S. stock futures Wednesday fell anew, putting the S&P 500 in position for a sixth decline in a row, as concerns about rising corporate costs and a global economic slowdown buffeted Wall Street.

Investors also were set to digest a fresh round of earnings reports in a busy week for quarterly corporate results.

How did major benchmarks fare?

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average YMZ8, -0.59% were trading 228 points, or 1%, lower at 25,016, those for the S&P 500 index ESZ8, -0.66% were slumping 26.25 points, or 0.9%, at 2,719.75, while the Nasdaq-100 futures NQZ8, -0.86% were sliding 86.50 points, or 1.2%, at 7,054.25.
