AMD leads chip stocks to rebound from worst month since 2010

Chip-related stocks led by Advanced Micro Devices Inc. rallied Thursday and were on track for their best week in more than nine years, bouncing back from a rough October.

The PHLX Semiconductor Index SOX, +4.85% surged 4.3% Thursday, adding to big gains earlier in the week. At last check, the SOX index was up 9.3% for the week, and on track for their best weekly percentage gain since September 16, 2011, when the index gained 12%. In comparison, the S&P 500 index SPX, +0.84% is up 2.8% for the week, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index COMP, +1.52% is up 3.5%.
