The Wall Street Journal: Bill Nelson concedes as Rick Scott wins tight Florida Senate race

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Republican Rick Scott won Florida’s hotly contested U.S. Senate race over incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson after a second recount, flipping the seat to the GOP and expanding the party’s Senate majority.

The race had hung in limbo for nearly two weeks before state officials released vote totals Sunday from a hand recount of more than 65,000 ballots.

In the initial results after Election Day, Nelson, who had sought his fourth term, trailed Scott, the state’s outgoing governor, by more than 56,000 votes. Scott’s lead dwindled to 12,603 votes as of Friday after a machine recount. That lead was so narrow it automatically triggered a second statewide recount, this time by hand.
