The Wall Street Journal: Some Chinese online retailers pull Dolce & Gabbana products over ads deemed racist

Some of China’s biggest online retailers have pulled Dolce & Gabbana products from their websites as a backlash mounted against the luxury brand over promotional videos that have been widely criticized as racist.

Listings of the Italian fashion house’s goods disappeared from the Chinese websites of Yoox Net-a-Porter, Alibaba BABA, +0.62% and JD.com JD, -5.26% as well as other online platforms that sell luxury goods.

A YNAP executive said the site had suspended sales of Dolce & Gabbana in China in the wake of the controversy pending a review. Alibaba and JD.com didn’t respond to requests for comment.
