The New York Post: MLB asks for refund over donation to Mississippi Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith

Major League Baseball has joined a long list of donors to ask Cindy Hyde-Smith for their money back after the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Mississippi made comments about attending a “public hanging.”

“The contribution was made in connection with an event that MLB lobbyists were asked to attend,” MLB spokesperson Pat Courtney said in a statement. “MLB has requested that the contribution be returned.”

MLB, which gave her a $5,000 donation through its political arm, is among a number of corporations — including AT&T T, -1.38% , Union Pacific UNP, -0.39% , Walmart WMT, +0.99% and Boston Scientific BSX, +0.58% — to ask for refunds.
