Capitol Report: Lawmakers blast GM over plans to cut jobs, close plants

Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle blasted General Motors Co.’s announcement it plans to idle plants and cut jobs, with President Donald Trump joining the criticism of the auto maker on Monday.

Here’s a roundup of comments from members of Congress about GM’s GM, +4.79% plans, which affect plants in Ohio, Michigan and Canada. CEO Mary Barra said the company’s actions “continue our transformation to be highly agile, resilient and profitable, while giving us the flexibility to invest in the future.”
