The Wall Street Journal: Six White House aides warned over Hatch Act violations

Bloomberg
White House aides used their government-linked Twitter accounts to spread political messages, often by using the phrase ‘Make America Great Again,’ President Trump’s campaign slogan.

Federal investigators said Friday that they issued warning letters to six White House employees whom they found in violation of a ban on using their official positions for political purposes.

The employees used their government-linked Twitter accounts improperly to spread political messages, often by using the phrase “Make America Great Again,” or MAGA, President Trump’s campaign slogan, according to a letter from the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, a permanent office of investigators and prosecutors.

The OSC’s latest findings came after complaints filed by the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a group that has been critical of the Trump administration’s approach to ethics.
