Bond Report: Treasury yields edge lower ahead of Fed minutes

Treasury prices moved higher Wednesday, pulling down yields, as investors awaited the minutes from the Federal Reserve’s January policy meeting, which saw policy makers abruptly move to put future rate moves on hold.

What are yields doing?

The yield on 10-year Treasury note TMUBMUSD10Y, -0.20% fell 1.3 basis points to 2.633%, while the 2-year yield TMUBMUSD02Y, -0.34% declined 0.8 basis point to 2.487%. The 30-year Treasury bond yield TMUBMUSD30Y, -0.18% was off 1.7 basis points to 2.972%.

What’s driving the market?

Trade talks between the U.S. and China are also in focus. Negotiators resumed discussions in Washington on Tuesday with discussions set to continue this week following a round of talks in Beijing last week.
