The Wall Street Journal: HBO CEO Richard Plepler steps down following AT&T takeover

HBO Chairman and Chief Executive Richard Plepler is stepping down in the wake of new owner AT&T Inc. seeking to put its own stamp on the premium cable channel.

In a memo to staff Thursday afternoon, Plepler said he was trusting his instincts — and it was time to go after nearly three decades at HBO.

“Hard as it is to think about leaving the company I love, and the people I love in it, it is the right time for me to do so,.” Plepler wrote. Plepler’s resignation comes as AT&T T, +0.19% overhauls the operations of Warner Bros.
