WPP says expenses row may hit former CEO Sir Martin Sorrell’s bonus

Advertising giant WPP may prevent former boss Sir Martin Sorrell from receiving some of his multimillion-pound bonus unless a row over his expenses is resolved.

The company WPP, +4.20%WPP, +1.81% is in a dispute with Sorrell, once Britain’s best-paid businessman, who earned £70 million in 2015 — slightly more than $103 million at a December 2015 exchange rate — over an undisclosed amount he is alleged to have claimed that it believes was for personal expenses.

He has already handed back £170,000 after the marketing business said he had used company money for personal expenses including his wife’s travel expenses, but he said is “surprised any questions remain.
