The Margin: ‘Tim Apple’? Trump botches Apple CEO’s name

He’s the chief executive of one of the most valuable companies in the world, but that doesn’t mean President Donald Trump knows his name.

At a meeting Wednesday of the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board in Washington, Trump called Apple Inc. AAPL, -0.58% CEO Tim Cook, who was sitting right next to him, “Tim Apple.”

“We’re going to be opening up the labor forces because we have to. We have so many companies coming in,” Trump said. “People like Tim — you’re expanding all over and doing things that I really wanted you to do right from the beginning.
