U.S. stocks on Thursday looked set to struggle to extend gains for a fourth session in a row, as investors eye headlines suggesting progress toward a U.S.-China trade deal has stalled, weaker-than-expected data in China, a grounding of a key Boeing jet and a Brexit saga playing out in the U.K.

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average YMM9, -0.04% fell 14 points, or 0.1% to 25,723, while S&P 500 futures ESM9, -0.01% were virtually unchanged at 2,814.50. Meanwhile, Nasdaq-100 futures NQM9, +0.05% ticked up 7 points, or 0.1%, to reach 7275.25.
