MarketWatch First Take: Atlassian continues to focus on its base after Slack deal, with another acquisition

Atlassian Corp. continues to build out its tech-focused software offerings after gracefully bowing out of the workplace-messaging war, announcing Monday its second acquisition in six months.

Atlassian TEAM, +0.86% said Monday it is acquiring collaborative-planning startup AgileCraft for $166 million, with the bulk of the payout — $154 million — paid in cash and the rest in vesting shares. That move adds to the $295 million acquisition of OpsGenie that the Australian enterprise-software company announced in September. Atlassian shares dipped about 0.4% in after-hours trading following news of Monday’s acquisition, which is expected to be slightly dilutive to margins this year and next.
