European markets tumble as growth fears increase

European markets shuddered Friday as the latest Eurozone purchasing managers index (PMI) figures signaled a broad-based slowdown.

How did markets perform?

The board was a sea of red Friday, with the STOXX Europe 600 SXXP, -0.51% slumping 0.42% to 379.1, after closing relatively flat Thursday.

In the U.K., the FTSE 100 UKX, -0.84% was down 0.81% to 7,295.8 on Friday, nearly reversing the gain Thursday of 0.88%.

The pound GBPUSD, -0.0305% was down 0.18% at $1.3083. The euro EURUSD, -0.6241% fell 0.68% to $1.1299.

The worst regional equities performer Friday was Italy’s FTSE Italia All-Share ITLMS, -1.11% , down 1.07% to 23,162.56
