Cannabis Watch: Cannabis stocks lower to start the week ahead of Cronos earnings, New Jersey vote

Cannabis stocks were mostly lower Monday, as the overall market started on a weak note, and investors awaited quarterly earnings from Cronos Group Inc. and a key vote on legalization in New Jersey.

Gov. Phil Murphy has been working through the weekend to raise the votes needed to support a bill, according to media reports. The bill is viewed as promising a more progressive regime than other states, as it includes provisions to ensure access to the legal market for communities who were most harshly punished for cannabis-related crimes and would expunge convictions for non-violent cases.

Legislators have already agreed on a $42–an-ounce tax on adult-use products.
