Asia Markets: Asian markets mostly fall, led by Nikkei

Asian shares were mostly lower Thursday, following a slip on Wall Street, as investors watched the continuing trade talks between the U.S. and China.

Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 NIK, -1.44% lost 1.5% in early trading, while Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 XJO, +0.38% recouped earlier losses to be up 0.3%. South Korea’s Kospi SEU, -0.54% fell nearly 0.7%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng HSI, -0.05% was little changed but slightly lower, while the Shanghai Composite SHCOMP, -0.26% was also down less than 0.1%.

Among individual stocks, Toyota 7203, -1.42% , Sony 6758, -1.97% and Japan Steel 5631, -3.39% fell in Tokyo trading.
