Market Snapshot: Stocks slide as investors weigh global growth worries

U.S. stocks fell Wednesday, reversing early-morning gains, as investors weighed the implications of falling bond yields, increasingly dovish central banks and fresh evidence of slowing global growth.

How are benchmarks faring?

The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.58% was down 46 points, or 0.2%, at 25,609, while the S&P 500 index SPX, -0.75% was off 9 points, or 0.3%, lower at 2,811, and the Nasdaq Composite Index COMP, -0.94% was down 27 points, or 0.4%, at 7,660.

At its highs Wednesday morning, the Dow had gained 100 points, the S&P 500 7 points, while the Nasdaq had advanced 21 points.
