J. Crew weighs Madewell brand IPO

J. Crew Group Inc. said late Thursday it is “actively exploring strategic alternatives” for itself, including a possible initial public offering for its Madewell brand of women’s clothing and accessories.

The privately held retailer said it has hired legal and financial advisers to weigh in its options, and a Madewell IPO, if pursued, could be completed as early as the second half of 2019.
