Brexit Brief: May vows to continue Brexit talks with opposition

U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May has vowed to push on with Brexit talks with the opposition Labour Party, in an effort to get her EU withdrawal deal approved by parliament and avoid having to hold European elections in just over a month’s time.

In a formal address to the House of Commons on Thursday afternoon, May defended the decision to delay the U.K.’s exit from the EU, telling MPs that delivering Brexit remained a “priority” for her.

The new deadline of October 31 means the U.K. is likely to have to hold European Parliament elections, unless a deal agreement is reached before then.
