China exports support European markets

European markets were buoyed by Chinese export data, capping a relatively quiet week as investors looked ahead to U.S. earnings season.

How did markets perform?

The Stoxx Europe SXXP, +0.09% was just better than flat, up 0.1% to 387.2. It rose 0.1% Thursday.

The U.K.’s FTSE 100 UKX, +0.28% led the way among regional indexes, climbing to 7447.2 Friday for a gain of 0.4%. It ended flat Thursday.

The pound GBPUSD, +0.4521% was up 0.1% to $1.3068 Friday after also ending flat Thursday.

In Germany, the DAX DAX, +0.01%DAX, +0.61% rose 0.3% to 11,977.2, adding to Thursday’s improvement of 0.4%.
