Key Words: Pence says Trump didn’t endorse WikiLeaks during campaign but ‘welcomes information’

Vice President Mike Pence

Vice President Mike Pence said in a CNN interview on Friday that President Donald Trump’s praise of WikiLeaks during the 2016 presidential campaign wasn’t an endorsement of the organization, whose founder was arrested on Thursday.

Asked about the arrest of Julian Assange, Trump told reporters, “It’s not my thing” and that he knew “nothing really about him.” Yet during the campaign, Trump welcomed the boost he got when WikiLeaks released Hillary Clinton campaign emails.

I think the president always, as you in the media do, always welcomes information. But that was in no way an endorsement.
