Weekend Sip: The makers of Campari have a new drink for Americans who like ‘bold, bitter’ flavors

The bottle:Braulio, $43.99 (one-liter bottle)

The back story: In recent years, the world has developed quite the thirst for what the Italians call amaro — essentially, a bitter-flavored herbal liqueur that can work as a standalone sip or in cocktails built around each amaro’s distinct character. Among the more famous spirits in the category are Campari and Aperol, brands that are both part of the Milan-based Campari Group.

Now, it may be time to make way for Braulio.

It is another classic amaro that comes from the Campari Group DVDCF, +1.30% , and it is crafted from a recipe that dates from 1875.
