You may have heard that McDonald’s has acquired a machine-learning startup, Dynamic Yield.

The hamburger chain MCD, -0.08% plunked down $300 million in lunch money.

But aside from Mickey D’s trying to be hip with the youngsters, what does this really mean for you as a consumer (and stock owner)? Simply put, you’ll be able to personalize your order just like you can at Amazon AMZN, +0.98%

Like any other machine-learning-based artificial-intelligence (AI) tool, this one will take external data into account — is it cold/hot outside? Have you purchased meals before? What’s your favorite flavor, etc.
