The Wall Street Journal: Trump administration downplays latest North Korea missile test

The Trump administration played down the threat presented by North Korea’s latest weapons tests and said it was eager for a resumption of talks to end the country’s efforts to acquire nuclear missiles.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Sunday said he hopes talks to end the North Korea’s efforts to acquire nuclear missiles will resume.

“We hope that this act that [North Korean leader Kim Jong Un] took over the weekend won’t get in the way,” he told ABC. “We want to get back to the table. We want to continue to have these conversations.” Asked whether the North Korea peace talks are in trouble, Pompeo responded: “It always seems that way until it’s successful.
