Market Snapshot: S&P 500 sets record intraday high as U.S.- China trade truce fuels buying

U.S. stocks rose Monday, including a new intraday high for the S&P 500, with trade-sensitive tech-related stocks leading the rally after Washington and Beijing agreed to refrain from escalating their trade dispute.

How are the benchmark indexes faring?

The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.45% jumped 173 points, or 0.7%, to 26,773 and the S&P 500 index SPX, +0.72% rose 24 points, or 0.9%, to 2,966. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, +1.12% surged 97 points, or 1.2%, to 8,103.

On Friday, the Dow added 207.06 points, or 0.8%, to 25,532.05. The S&P 500 rose 22.54 points, or 0.8%, to 2,834.41.
