Macron praises ‘modern and innovative’ French army as man with rifle rides hoverboard above Bastille Day crowd

It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s a French guy with a rifle?

Indeed, flying high above the Bastille Day parade in Paris on Sunday, inventor and entrepreneur Franky Zapata gave a menacing look at his “Flyboard Air,” a futuristic turbine engine-powered hoverboard.

French Armed Forces Minister Florence Parly explained to France Inter radio that the impressive machine can potentially be used for all sorts of things, including, of course, as “an assault platform.”

French President Emmanuel Macron was impressed:

Zapata says the hoverboard can reach speeds of up to 118 miles an hour and run for a total of 10 minutes, according to France 24.
