Anheuser-Busch InBev to sell Australia unit to Asahi for $11 billion

Anheuser-Busch InBev on Friday announced it’s selling its Australian subsidiary for A$16 billion ($11.3 billion) just days after scrapping the initial public offering of its Asia business.

A-B InBev BUD, +1.04%ABI, +4.53% said it was selling Carlton & United Breweries to Japan’s Asahi Holdings 2502, +1.45% . Carlton & United brew beers including Victoria Bitter and Carlton Drought.

The Belgium brewer said it’s still thinking about selling off a minority stake in Budweiser Brewing Company APAC, which was set to go public in Hong Kong before being cancelled. The company said that sale is dependent on getting the right valuation.
