One man pled for help with his IRS audit, and the internet stepped in with an unfortunate answer

This man may have just learned about tax scams the hard way.

On Reddit, a writer named “buddy276” said this week he was being audited by the Internal Revenue Service for taxes he owed in 2018.

But from there, his description of what was going on got fishier and fishier.

“For 2018, I had a normal job with a W2,” buddy276 wrote. He filed his taxes through TurboTax INTU, -1.00% , he said, and expected a tax return of about $1,200.

He didn’t have any side income, he said.

After he filed, he received a notice, apparently in the form of a paper letter, asking about his health insurance.
