DoorDash does U-turn on tipping policy, vows to pass 100% of tips to workers

Cash is king when you’re tipping food-delivery workers.

DoorDash, one of the most frequently used food delivery apps in the U.S., said late Tuesday that it would change its tipping policy, and pass 100% of tips onto workers rather than its previous method of paying workers a flat rate for delivery.

“Its clear from recent feedback that we didn’t strike the right balance,” Tony Xu, DoorDash CEO said on Twitter TWTR, +8.92%. “We thought we were doing the right thing by making Dashers whole when a customer left no tip. What we missed was that some customers who *did* tip would feel like their tip did not matter.
