Economic Report: The fun stuff is getting more expensive during the pandemic

Of the major categories, recreation and culture had the biggest upward shift, according to the statistician.

Prices for items like computer games consoles, preschool activity toys, craft kits, dolls, construction toys, and sit-and-ride toys advanced, as did computer software, CDs and DVDs, and media bought online. Book prices however collapsed by 14.5%.

Also rising — alcohol and tobacco, with whiskey prices in particular increasing.

Delivery or takeaway pizza prices shot up 7.3%, and takeaway burger prices jumped 4.6%.
